All internet ready computers have access to the internet via Adelphia Power Link. The library has 6 computers internet ready for public use. The ACCESS PA POWER LIBRARY has been expanded and now includes E-Library, Contemporary Authors & Scribner Writers Series, Grove's Dictionaries/Nature Publishing Group Reference, Poem Finder and POWER Library Information Center while still providing patrons with access to The Associated Press Archives, Ebsco Host full text articles, SIRS (a data base especially designed for young online researchers), ACCESS PA (find a book anywhere in the state), Electric Library, Searchasaurus, Poetry Finder and others.
PLEASE READ BELOW FOR INFORMATION ON USING OUR IN-HOUSE INTERNET ACCESS
Persons under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult over the age of 18.
Young adults between the ages of 13 and 15 inclusive must have a parental Internet use permission slip signed on file OR be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult over the age of 18 to use the Internet.
Computer/Internet users must have a valid Library card. A driver’s license or other acceptable identification will be accepted for non-area residents. Computer/Internet users library cards must have a "Good" status. Fines/fees must be paid and overdue materials returned before computer/internet privileges will be granted.
Patrons must sign in at the circulation desk and leave their Library cards while using Library computers
Patrons will be assigned to specific computers for statistical tracking purposes. Computer use sessions will be limited to one hour if others are waiting to use the computers. No more than two people may be at any Library computer at one time.
Printing from the Computer/internet resources is 15 cents per page for all pages printed. Please preview print jobs to prevent wasted pages.
Unacceptable Use:
Transmission/downloading of any material in violation of any U.S. or state regulation is prohibited. Examples include copyrighted items, threatening or obscene/ pornographic material, or material protected by trade secret.
Patrons who use the Library's Internet resources to access obscene/pornographic sites in violation of Title 18, Chapter 59, 5903 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes or other statutes or in violation of provisions of the Homeland Security Act will be banned from use of the Library's computer resources. The penalty for violation of Library computer/Internet use rules will be a three (3) month ban for the first offense, six (6) months for the second offense, and a permanent ban for the third offense.
Be advised:
West Pittston Library makes no warranties for Internet sites. Library staff cannot control the availability of information links which often change rapidly and unpredictably.Users need to be good information consumers. Not all sources on the Internet provide accurate, complete, or current information. Use of any information obtained via the Internet is at the user's own risk.
Network Etiquette:
Be polite. Use appropriate language. Do not reveal personal information, e.g.: address, phone number, credit card numbers, etc. Do not use the network in such a way that you would disrupt the use of the network by other users.
Security:
Security problems should be reported to the Library staff.
Vandalism:
Vandalism will result in the cancellation of user privileges. Vandalism is defined as any malicious attempt to harm or destroy data, including the uploading or creating of computer viruses: changing the computer settings: or downloading or installing software programs not already available.

I understand and will abide by the West Pittston Library Internet Use rules and other conditions listed above or posted by the Internet computers. I further understand that any violation of the regulations is unethical and may result in loss of access privileges and/or appropriate legal action.
